San Francisco, CA (Macworld Expo) -- January 6, 2009 -- Attention, FileMaker Developers!  We are really excited about the release of FileMaker Pro 10, and how great the new version works with our FM::Nexus Web Services Plug-in v2.0. To celebrate this occasion we are holding a special promotion that encourages you to start using web services with FileMaker Pro. For the entire month of January simply provide FM::Nexus with a new example of a web service working with our Web Services Plug-in for FileMaker, and we'll provide you with a single-user license of the plug-in, FREE of charge.

Web Services enable a developer to easily build interactivity with all kinds of live Internet content providers and dynamic services--all while working with simple code inside of FileMaker itself. Grab demographic information, query remote systems for financial data, send bulk SMS messages, or automate mass phone notifications for important meetings. These are just a few examples. There are thousands of web services that allow you to interact with all kinds of information, just by using simple, pre-configured format files called WSDLs.

Support For New FileMaker Pro 10
FileMaker Pro 10 has a large list of new features but one of the most exciting is the new script triggers -- now simply tabbing out of a field could allow your solution to interact with a web service. For example, a user might type a zip code into a field, tab out and then instantly get a cost for shipping pulled live from an internet web service. Another example might be where you need to have someone notified of their upcoming appointment with a simple SMS text message to their cell phone number listed in a database field. Or get fancy and send them a customized voicemail message. This can be automated in FileMaker, and executed across the Internet through a web service. (Check out the SMS and PhoneNotify examples on our Wiki for these two tricks). Using the FM::Nexus Web Services Plug-in, all this is possible and much more!
