Fremont, CA - .com Solutions Inc. has released FmPro Migrator 4.38, as a maintenance update, including Bento to FileMaker Pro migration feature enhancements. FmPro Migrator 4.38 adds a new Bento CSV/TAB delimited export feature for Unicode data, enabling customers with localized versions of Bento to export non-ASCII characters to FileMaker Pro and other applications. Even non-localized versions of Bento may include Unicode and high-ASCII characters. Within any version of Bento it is easy to copy special characters into text fields using the Edit -> Special Characters... menu item.

Unlike Bento's CSV Form Export feature, FmPro Migrator exports data from every Library field, not just the fields displayed on a particular form. FmPro Migrator uses the hidden primary key field within each Library table to create relationships to the URL, IM, File and Media tables. FmPro Migrator also includes a TAB delimited file export feature, to support transferring Bento data to a wider selection of applications.

Even though Bento only runs on Mac OS X Leopard, FmPro Migrator is able to perform the migration process on either Mac OS X (10.3 or higher) or Windows. FmPro Migrator directly reads the database structure, data, relationships and forms within the contents of any Bento backup file to perform Bento database migrations. Users merely need to drag and drop the Bento backup file onto FmPro Migrator to start the migration process.

FmPro Migrator Developer Edition includes all the features of FmPro Migrator, but also includes FileMaker Table Consolidation, and automation of the relationship and layout creation process on Mac OS X and Windows.

FmPro Migrator Changes Include:

* CSV and TAB Delimited Data Export - Clicking the Transfer Data icon in FmPro Migrator now creates either a CSV or TAB delimited export file for each migrated Bento database table. Importing the exported data files using the FileMaker UTF8 import option insures that all Unicode and special characters are converted propertly. iWork 08 Numbers easily imports CSV files and automatically recognizes the Unicode characters.

* Check For Updates Menu - Checking for updated versions of FmPro Migrator as been simplified thru the addition of the "Check for Updates..." menu option, which links directly to the product download web page.

* Online Web Help Menu - FmPro Migrator "How To..." documents are frequently updated on the FmPro Migrator support web page, now available directly from the Help menu.

* Maintenance Items - Performance and functional improvements have been made to the process of gathering tables/relationships and the creation of FileMaker Layouts from Bento forms.

Existing FmPro Migrator customers can upgrade to FmPro Migrator 4.38 at no charge. The single-user licensing includes a copy of FmPro Migrator for both Mac OS X (Universal Binary) and Windows platforms. FmPro Migrator customers may upgrade to FmPro Migrator Developer Edition for $100 USD.
