We are a ‘FileMaker 8 Certified’ associate member of the FileMaker Solutions Alliance (FSA), seeking a full-time, salaried *FileMaker Solutions Developer* to plan, build and maintain complex FileMaker Pro databases for our clients on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms.
All interested candidates should reside in the Los Angeles area (or must be willing to relocate to the area) and will be required to work in our San Fernando Valley office. Telecommuting is NOT an option for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and develop FileMaker 6 & 8 database solutions based on client needs, requests and workflow analysis
• Research and evaluate database solution problems and work to resolve issues
• Work with clients by phone, email or in person to clarify and resolve issues, evaluate and plan strategies, and to make most efficient use of their data tools.
• Meet with clients, analyze business processes, build estimates, manage projects
JOB DUTIES
• Design, develop and deploy FileMaker-based applications for wide range of industries and organizations
• Maintain and update existing FileMaker 6 and 8-based client software solutions
• Manage the development process from needs analysis and concept to finished form
• Take responsibility for developing and following project timelines and development plans, and for meeting client expectations
• Provide technical support to clients for custom solutions we’ve built for them or that they are otherwise using
• Assist clients in meeting their daily data needs, including fulfillment of report requests or minor system changes
• Work on client solutions through remote connections from our office, or on-site at the clients’ local offices
• Work on your own and as part of a team environment with other in-house developers, contractors, and client representatives
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• 3-5+ years experience building FileMaker-based software applications from the ground up
• Strong technical skills using FileMaker Pro, including the ability to create and work with complex calculations, scripts and relationships
• Strong interface design skills using FileMaker Pro, including the ability to create intuitive, attractive and professional designs that can be standardized throughout a solution
• Strong relational database design and structural design skills
• Strong troubleshooting and analysis skills
• Requires someone who is extremely proactive, self-motivated and organized
• Ability to meet with clients and analyze needs and requests with an eye toward the larger picture
• Be detail-oriented and maintain a passionate commitment toward product quality and customer service
• Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients and associates
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and to effectively manage time
• Ability to multi-task, and to adjust to ever-changing requirements
• Ability, motivation and willingness to consult with and learn from peers and to work in a group development environment is essential
• A variety of other talents, skills, fondnesses, interests and/or experiences would also be nice:
- Maintaining 20+ table, mission-critical FileMaker solutions in live user environments helpful
- Deploying, configuring and optimizing FileMaker Server
- FileMaker web integration experience would be helpful, including an understanding and/or deployment of Lasso, XML or PHP-based solutions
- Experience in needs analysis, project management and estimate creation will be helpful
- Building and/or supporting distributed 'vertical-market' database products
- Software documentation: planning, writing, organization and/or design
- FileMaker 7 and/or 8 Certification is desirable but not essential
