Integrating FileMaker With SQL Databases
Have you ever wanted to include data from corporate SQL databases in your FileMaker databases? How about adding, changing, or removing data in those SQL databases? If so, then the August meeting of the Richmond FileMaker Pro User Group is for you!
At the meeting, we will discuss and demonstrate integrating FileMaker Pro with SQL databases (such as SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle) to build more robust and powerful solutions. We will discuss: ODBC, ESS, the "Execute SQL" script step, and more. We'll also provide advice on how to "sell" FileMaker to your SQL DBAs and convince them that FileMaker not only has the ability to integrate with their databases, but that it can do so safely and securely as well.
The meeting will be held on August 11th at 6:00pm. It will be held at George Collier's office, which is located at 1329 East Cary Street in Richmond, Virginia.
Those of you who would like to join us for dinner beforehand (at around 5:00pm) are welcome to meet us at Sine (http://www.sineirishpub.com/). It's a nice Irish pub and restaurant, located right next door to George's office. (If you're new to the group, you can easily spot us in the crowd, as we'll be the only group there discussing things like scripts, relationships, and plug-ins!)
And finally... If you know anyone else who might be interested in the Richmond FileMaker User Group and our next meeting, please forward this to them. The more the merrier.
Thanks, and I hope to see you there!
-- Tim Dietrich, Chapter Administrator
P.S. Since a number of our members are attending FileMaker DevCon this year, we will not be holding a meeting in July. See you in August!
